Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both lawyers. When she moved to Oxfordshire around the age of five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Emma was inspired to become an actor by the age of six. For several years, she attended the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing, dancing and acting. In a school play and a Stagecoach show, she was as the lead role at age 10 and performed. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film adaptation to J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was discovered by Emma's Oxford Theater teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after the eight auditions that she'd been chosen for these roles. She was cast alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's film debut coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It was the year's top earning film, smashing records at the opening as well as the first weekend. The critics were impressed by the movie and its performances. The Daily Telegraph, an important British paper, called Emma's performances "amazing". Emma's performance received nominations and later won awards for the film.
